How to use the basket: Place the soaked sticky rice in the bamboo basket and place it over a pot of boiling water so the rice is steamed until tender. This is the authentic method for khao niao, which is served with larb, grilled chicken, papaya salad, and mango sticky rice. The baskets with string handles are also beautiful for serving the rice directly at the table.

Soak the sticky rice for several hours or overnight before steaming for the best result. Rinse the bamboo basket with water after use and let it air dry; it will last for many years.
