The animal bears the scientific name Sepia pharaonis and is caught by trawling in the Eastern Indian Ocean, FAO Zone 57. The product is supplied as whole, raw, and cleaned cuttlefish, frozen and coated with a protective layer of ice to preserve quality during storage and transport. The weight per package varies between 800 g and 1800 g, offering flexibility for both private households and professional kitchens.
