    Mortar and Pestle - Laos-style - Clay and Wood - 7 inches

    This Laos-style mortar is made of clay and comes with a wooden pestle. The mortar measures 23 cm in diameter at the top and 13 cm at the base. The wooden pestle is 33 cm long, and the color of the wood may vary from light to dark. The set is suitable for preparing Asian dishes, including the Thai papaya salad "som tum". The mortar crushes ingredients slowly and gently, which preserves texture and flavor better than an electric food processor. It is ideal for mashing soft ingredients such as papaya, chili, and herbs. The mortar is not intended for heavy crushing of hard ingredients. Before first use, the mortar and pestle should be washed in warm soapy water. The mortar's rustic appearance and artisanal finish reflect traditional Asian culinary culture.
