Description
Greenshell Mussels on Half Shell - 800 g
Greenshell mussels, also known as green-lipped mussels, are a specific species of mussel (Perna canaliculus) harvested from aquaculture in New Zealand. The mussels are sold frozen on the half shell, making them easy to portion and cook directly from the freezer. The meat is firm and juicy with a mild, natural oceanic flavor and a slightly sweet undertone, making them suitable for many different cuisines. They can be prepared in numerous ways, including steaming, grilling, baking, frying, smoking, marinating, or as an ingredient in soups, chowders, and curries. The mussels are blanched before freezing, which preserves their fresh texture and taste. Each pack contains 800 grams of frozen mussels, divided into approximately six 85-gram portions. The product is an excellent source of protein, with a full 14.7 g per 100 g, as well as naturally occurring omega-3 fatty acids, including EPA and DHA, which contribute to a varied and nutritious diet. The salt content in the product comes exclusively from naturally occurring sodium in the mussel meat. The mussels must be stored frozen at -18 °C or below and must not be refrozen after thawing. The product must always be heat-treated before consumption. Frozen green-lipped mussels are ideal for food enthusiasts looking for a quick and nutritious seafood dish, and pair well with Asian-inspired cooking, Mediterranean cuisine, and classic Western seafood dishes. Keywords: frozen mussels, green-lipped mussels, mussels on half shell, omega-3 seafood, protein-rich seafood, frozen seafood.
